capture error a type of slip (a kind of error) where a more frequent and more practiced behavior takes place when a similar, but less familiar, action was intended.

For example, failing to stop at a store that is on the way home from work. Most of the route to the store is identical to the trip home. The trip home occurs more frequently. A capture error has occurred when you find yourself at home having meant to go to the store.
